JMPing : Is a command line tool utility that allows you to get an ok or not ok response whether your ping has been successful or not. JMPing is by design quicker than normal ping command as the response timeout is set by default to 10 milliseconds. This timeout allows you to quick ping machine in a Local Area Network environnement, but you need to set a larger timeout if you plan to ping a machine over a Wide Area Network like Internet. JMPing sets a success (0) or unsuccess (1) value in ERRORLEVEL in order to let you write batch scripts. You can now check if a machine is present on your network before launching a network request for example.

MultiPing Grapher is a further development of Perfping with the ability to graph up to 10 different ICMP results. Includes logging and average calculation.

Perfping is a tool that allows you to ping a host continuously or with a single ping using different data volumes. This can give you an indication of the performance of the route to your host.

You can change the ping intervall from 2 to 30 seconds using various timeouts. The timeout is always smaller than the pinging interval. Results are written to log window and log file if so chosen. Unreachable hosts have a value of 0 ms.

Ping program; useful to test your connection. Enter a web address or a valid host name, e.g. http://www.google.com or google.com, or a valid IP address, e.g. 72.14.207.99 (google.com). The IP addresses are converted into host names and conversely. An empty input gives local IP address.

Netping was created with the sole purpose of giving the status of an ADSL internet connection. It will indicate both in the tray, on the desktop (if enabled) and with sound (if enabled) any change of status. Netping transmits an ICMP echo datagram to a remote system (multiple sites in parallel or in sequence). If the remote returns the message, the connection is considered valid. If the remote system does not echo the message, it only means that the remote system did not respond. That is, a lack of a response can be caused by a number of different reasons (you are not connected to the network, the remote may not be connected, the remote may not support echo requests, or it may just be too busy to reply).

So the philosophy is simple: You ping known sites on the internet. If you get an answer, your internet connection must be up. You should pick at least three different sites to make sure you cover downtime for maintenance etc. If all sites are down (no answer received on a ping), your internet connection is assumed down. Before you add a site to ping, please make sure that the site actually responds to a ping message.
